The check is this: if all seven grahas β Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn β fall inside the same half of the chart bounded by the Rahu-Ketu axis, that is a whole Kaal Sarp Dosha. Six on one side with a single planet outside is counted as partial. Anything else is not a dosha. Rahu is taken as the mean lunar node, Ketu exactly opposite, and the twelve named types are read from the sign Rahu occupies.
Positions come from the Schlyter low-precision orbital model β accurate to roughly a degree β converted to sidereal longitudes with the Lahiri ayanamsa. That is close enough for the split this test looks at, but a chart cast by an astrologer with full ephemerides can differ, especially when a planet sits near the axis. This is a light, entertainment-grade check, not a substitute for consulting one.
