How the nakshatra is located

The zodiac is divided into twenty-seven nakshatras of 13°20′ each, and yours is whichever one held the Moon at your birth — measured on the sidereal zodiac, with the Lahiri ayanamsa subtracted from the tropical longitude. Each nakshatra is quartered into four padas, so the pada narrows the position to 3°20′, and the ruling planet follows the nine-graha cycle beginning at Ketu.

Why birth time matters here

The Moon crosses a full nakshatra in roughly a day, and a pada in about six hours, so an approximate birth time can move your pada and occasionally the nakshatra itself. Positions come from a low-precision lunar model, which is close but not the full ephemeris an astrologer would use. Read it as a light Vedic reading rather than a chart to act on.
