Mars falling in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house counted from the Moon marks the dosha. Classical texts list many parihara — cancellations — and this checker applies only the ones that can be verified objectively from the chart: Mars sitting in its own sign, Mesha or Vrishchika, or exalted in Makara; and Jupiter casting its 5th, 7th or 9th aspect onto Mars. Anything resting on interpretation is left out rather than guessed at.
Mars and Jupiter are placed with the Schlyter low-precision model — about a degree of error — and converted to sidereal longitudes with the Lahiri ayanamsa. A birth near a house boundary can therefore land on either side. Treat the result as a light, entertainment-grade indication, and take a real chart to an astrologer if it matters to you.
